Giuseppe Deliso - guitarist

Giuseppe Deliso is a fresh and melodic contemporary jazz guitarist, who lives in beautiful Puglia, Italy.

His sound spans the genres of Jazz, Blues, Smooth Jazz, Soul Jazz, and Gospel Jazz.

Although primarily self-taught, he has also learned from short workshops targeted for guitarists and pianists.

His music reflects the influences of Charlie Christian, Duke Ellington, Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton.

In July 2010, he released his debut album as a completely original work, entitled Rebirth. His music is full of feeling and, at the same time, energy and passion. Also evident is the influence of other musical genres, as well as the fruit of his musical journey in itself. In addition, his compositions draw on human experiences, and express Deliso’s culture, worldview, and message.

In 2009 he released Cocktail Guitar, which was a collection of covers from the repertoire of international authors like Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Antonio Carlos Jobim, George Benson, Burt Bacharach, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, and others. Cocktail Guitar has been praised as a collection ideal for cocktail music contexts.

In 2005, the presentation of his musical project, Gospel in Jazz, stood out as a reinterpretation of gospel songs between the latter part of the 19th century, including the Spirituals, the music of the blacks slaves in the cotton fields, all harmonized and construed in accordance with the jazz tradition. This work gives rise to a collection, never published, but musically presented in some Protestant Christian gatherings at the national level.

In April 2010, he joined with four musicians who were already active and present in the musical territory of the Puglia: Vito Liturri (piano), Marco Boccia (bass), Lello Patruno (drums), and Vincenzo Antonicelli (saxophone). The musical comraderie was immediate.
